THE DIFFERENCE · BOARD-LEVEL REPAIR
We go to board level.
Here’s the bit most places won’t tell you. When a MacBook won’t charge or won’t turn on, the usual answer is ‘you need a new logic board’ — a $1,500-plus part — or worse, ‘just buy a new Mac’. That’s the easy sell, not the honest one.
The whole board rarely dies. Usually it’s one component that’s given up: a failed charging IC, a blown backlight fuse, a shorted cap. We diagnose down to that part, replace it under the microscope, and hand you back the same board — working, and hundreds of dollars cheaper than a swap.
A failed charging chip is a targeted repair, not a $1,500 board swap. And your data never leaves the machine.

Swollen battery? Know the warning signs.
Old MacBook batteries can swell as they age. It’s not rare, and it’s worth taking seriously — a puffed-up cell is under pressure and best dealt with sooner rather than later. The tells are usually right under your fingers:
- The trackpad clicks oddly, feels raised, or won’t click at all
- The MacBook won’t sit flat — it rocks on the desk
- The base is bulging, or there’s a gap opening along the seam
- The lid no longer closes flush

Stop using it. Don’t charge it, and don’t press on the bulge. Power it down and bring it in — we’ll swap the cell out safely and get it sitting flat again. A same-day job on most models.
LIQUID DAMAGE · ACT FAST
Spilled something? The first hour matters.
Liquid and a live board don’t mix — the damage isn’t the spill, it’s the corrosion that keeps eating away after. The sooner it’s off and open, the more we can save. So before anything else:
- 1Power it off now. Hold the power button until it’s dead. Don’t wait for it to shut down on its own.
- 2Do NOT charge it. Plugging in a wet Mac is how a survivable spill turns into a dead board. Leave it unplugged.
- 3Tip it open, screen-down like a tent, and get it to us. No rice, no hairdryer — both do more harm than good.

Is it worth fixing an old MacBook?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no — and we’ll tell you which. A $189 battery in a Mac that’s otherwise flying is money well spent. Pouring $600 into a machine worth $400 usually isn’t, and we’ll say so rather than take the job. We wrote a whole honest piece on it: read repair or replace your old MacBook.
Do you keep my data?
Yes. Your data stays on the machine — we don’t wipe, reset or reinstall unless the repair genuinely needs it, and if it does, we’ll ask you first. Board-level repairs are the whole point here: we fix the board your data lives on rather than swapping it out. Back up before any repair anywhere if you can, but with us the files stay put.
Do you use genuine parts?
Original-first. We fit genuine or original-grade parts where we can get them, and quality aftermarket where genuine isn’t available or you’d rather not pay Apple prices — and we always tell you which is going in. We won’t claim ‘genuine only’ like some shops do; that’s rarely true and you deserve the real story and the choice.
How long does it take?
Depends on the job. Many battery swaps and simple fixes are same-day. Screens and keyboards are often next-day once the part’s in. Board-level diagnosis and repair is the slow one — usually 2 to 5 days — because it’s microscope work and we test properly before it goes back to you.
I spilled something — what now?
Power it off straight away and do NOT charge it — a live board plus liquid is where the real damage happens. Tip it open like a tent and get it to us.
