Make it last a full day again.
Batteries don't fail dramatically — they just quietly stop holding charge until your phone's dead by 4pm. Here's exactly what we fit, what it costs, and the one thing Apple has done since iPhone 12 that most shops won't tell you about.
For most iPhones we fit GREENCELL® AFTERMARKET — original IC, original flex, brand-new cell.
We always recommend original. The price gap is $10-15. Not worth saving.
A replacement battery is three things.
The grade label on the box (Genuine, Greencell, Generic) really describes how these three components were sourced. The differences live here.
The cell
The actual lithium-ion pouch. Wears out with charge cycles. After ~500 full cycles capacity drops to about 80%.
The chip
Battery Management chip. Talks to iOS & Android, reports health, manages safe charging. Paired to your phone on iPhone 12+.
The flex
Ribbon cable + connector. Carries power and data between the cell, the IC, and the phone's logic board.
Without the Apple bill.
Service Pack
Sealed Apple-original cell, in an Apple part box.
Same part Apple ships to its own Genuine Service Providers, sealed in an Apple service-part box. iOS reports it as fully genuine with normal battery health in Settings — paired at the factory. The most expensive option, and the only one truly 'original'.

Greencell aftermarket
Original IC + original flex. Brand-new cell to original spec.
We salvage the original Apple BMS chip and flex from your old battery and pair it with a fresh, spec-matched cell from Greencell — an Australian brand we've fitted thousands of with no issues. The phone sees the original IC and behaves as if nothing changed.

Full aftermarket
All-new cell, IC and flex. iOS sees it as unknown.
The cheapest option. Everything is third-party — including the BMS chip. iOS can't pair it as genuine, so you lose battery health visibility and get a warning message that doesn't go away. Same physical performance as Greencell, but the iOS experience is worse.

Spec for spec.
On iPhone 12 and newer, the Battery Health screen is where the grade you fitted shows up. Reference: iPhone 14 Pro. Numbers vary slightly across models but the trade-offs don't.
The difference is one line of text.
On iPhone 12 and newer, the Battery Health screen is where the grade you fitted shows up. Here's what each one looks like.
On Samsung & Pixel, we'll always fit original.
Aftermarket Android batteries exist, but the price difference is rarely more than $10-15 — and Samsung/Google parts are widely available through official channels. Spending an extra coffee's worth to get the manufacturer's own cell is a no-brainer.
We use original-spec adhesive where possible, re-bonded to factory spec so the new battery sits the same as the old one.
SHORT VERSION · No grades to argue about. We fit the manufacturer's own cell, period.
If one of these sounds familiar — yes.
Dies before lunch
100% at breakfast, on charge by 11am. Cycles are exhausted.
Shuts off above 30%
Phone powers down at random percentages — the cell can't deliver peak current.
Hot when charging
Warmer than it used to be — internal resistance is up.
Swollen / lifted screen
Display popping up off the chassis is a swollen battery. Stop using it — bring it in.
Battery Health below 80%
iPhone is officially asking for a replacement. Performance throttling kicks in here.
Won't turn on
Hold power for 10 sec, plug it in. If nothing, it's a dead cell, not a dead phone.
Day-long battery, by lunch.
Walk in to DFO Uni Hill or get a quote online. Most batteries are fitted in 30 minutes — you can grab a coffee at the food court and come back.
Straight answers.
Not sure which grade you want? Walk in — we'll show you the Settings screen on a phone with each grade fitted, so you can see exactly what changes.
How long does the new battery last?
On iPhone, expect 500–700 full cycles before capacity drops below 80% — that's around 2–3 years of typical use. Greencell and Genuine perform identically in real-world life because the cells are the same spec from the same base suppliers.
Is your warranty different per grade?
Yes. Genuine Service Pack carries the full 12-month manufacturer warranty. Greencell carries our 6-month workshop warranty on parts and labour. Generic carries our 3-month workshop warranty. We re-fit free if anything fails inside the window.
What does 'Used Apple Part' actually mean?
It's a cosmetic line that appears in Settings > Battery > Battery Health on iPhone 12+ when a non-paired battery is fitted. No performance impact, no health loss, no warnings. Apple introduced the line in iOS 15.4 — it just means the BMS chip wasn't paired at Apple's factory.
Will the Battery Health % still be accurate?
Yes — on Genuine and Greencell. Both use original IC chips that report accurate cycle count and maximum capacity. On Generic, the Health % is hidden because the IC doesn't talk to iOS properly.
Why don't you offer Greencell on Android?
We can fit Greencell-equivalent third-party cells on Android if you ask, and we're happy with the performance. The catch is the price difference vs the manufacturer's own cell is usually only $10-15 — for that small a gap it's hard to recommend anything other than original.
Is the 'Important Battery Message' a deal-breaker?
Honest answer: many people don't care. The phone works perfectly, battery life is the same, you just see one extra line in Settings. If you're never going to look there, it doesn't matter. If you sell phones via marketplace, it might affect resale.
My display is popping up off the chassis — is that a battery issue?
Yes — it's a swollen battery. Stop using the phone, don't keep it in your pocket, bring it in immediately. Swollen batteries are a fire risk. Free diagnostic; the replacement itself is a normal-priced job.
My phone won't turn on at all — is the battery dead or is it bricked?
Hold power for 10 seconds, plug into a wall charger, wait 30 seconds — see the Apple logo? It's often a dead cell, not a dead phone. Free diagnostic in-store and we'll tell you within 10 minutes whether it's a battery, a charging issue, or board-level.
