Getting Started

Do I need to book a repair?

No — walk in any day between 10am and 6pm and we'll get started. If you'd rather skip the wait, build an instant quote online and we'll have parts ready for you when you arrive.

How do I get a quote?

Two ways: the instant quote tool (pick device → model → fault → real price in about 60 seconds — no email gate, no follow-up call), or call 03 9467 9694 / email hello@casemonkey.com.au if it's something unusual.

Can I just walk in without an appointment?

Yes, always — most customers do. Phone screen and battery swaps are usually done while you grab a coffee. No booking, no fuss.

Where are you and when are you open?

K10, DFO Uni Hill, 2 Janefield Drive, Bundoora VIC 3083. Open every day, 10:00am – 6:00pm. Phone 03 9467 9694, email hello@casemonkey.com.au.

The Repair Process

How long does a repair take?

Phone screens and batteries: 30–60 minutes, done while you wait. Charging ports and back glass: usually same-day. Board-level work and water damage: 24–48 hours. We'll give you a real time estimate when you drop it off — and usually beat it.

Will it be fixed on the spot, or do I have to leave it?

Depends on the job. Quick stuff (screens, batteries, charging ports) is usually on the spot. Heavier work (housing swap, board repair, water damage) we keep overnight or 24–48 hours. We'll tell you exactly when you drop it off — never leave you guessing.

Will you let me know when it's ready?

Yes — we'll text or call the moment it's done. If you're waiting in the centre, we'll wave you over.

Parts & Quality

Do you use genuine parts?

We can fit genuine "Service Pack" parts on request (Apple, Samsung, Google — the same parts the manufacturer's own authorised repairers use, in a sealed box, roughly 2× the cost). For about 9 of 10 customers we fit a top-tier aftermarket alternative — same look and feel as the original at a fair price. The grade we're fitting is always written on your receipt, never a quiet swap.

What are the different screen grades — "Service Pack", "Soft OLED", "Incell LCD"?

Four grades on the market:

  • Service Pack — the genuine manufacturer panel, in a sealed Apple/Samsung box. Identical to factory. On request, ~2× the cost.
  • OEM Refurbished — a genuine original OLED with fresh glass laminated over it. The display itself is 100% original.
  • Soft OLED — a high-quality aftermarket OLED. What we fit for most OLED iPhones — proper OLED, True Tone preserved, looks and feels original.
  • Incell LCD — the cheapest grade, for older LCD models (iPhone XR/11, 7/8/SE, 6 series). Works, but no True Tone, dimmer than OLED.

We'll always tell you which grade you're getting before we start.

What about batteries — are they genuine?

We fit Greencell aftermarket batteries by default — original-quality cells, full capacity, health re-calibrated after install so iOS reports it correctly. Genuine Service Pack batteries are available on request if you'd prefer the manufacturer's own cell.

Will the new back glass match the original colour?

Yes — for iPhone 14, 14 Plus and 15 onwards (the models Apple designed for glass-only replacement), we fit colour-matched, high-quality aftermarket back glass. On older iPhones where the glass is fused to the chassis, we do a full housing swap — same colour, same finish.

Warranty

What's your warranty?

Minimum 90 days on every repair, parts and labour. For repairs using genuine Service Pack parts, we extend that to 12 months on the part — still our warranty (not the manufacturer's). Full breakdown of what's covered is on our Warranty page.

Does the manufacturer's warranty still apply after a repair?

No — and that's true of any non-authorised repair shop. Once we (or any independent repairer) work on the device, the manufacturer's warranty on that part is gone, even if we fit a genuine Service Pack part. We're not authorised by Apple, Samsung, Google or any other brand — we source and fit the same calibre of parts, but the manufacturer's cover doesn't follow them once they leave our bench.

What you do get is our own warranty: minimum 90 days on parts and labour, extended to 12 months on repairs done with genuine Service Pack parts. And in most cases — once your device is already broken (cracked screen, dead battery, water damage) — the manufacturer's warranty on that part was already void before you walked in. Either way, you're covered by us.

What does the warranty cover (and not cover)?

Covered: the part itself failing (dead pixels, touch dropping out, backlight dying), and anything we touched during the repair stopping working (earpiece, sensors, Face ID flex).

Not covered: new damage (drop, crack, liquid after the fact), impact damage to the OLED (green tint, green lines, ink spreading — that's a new knock to the panel), restored water resistance (we reseal with genuine seals but can't guarantee the original IP rating returns), and repairs done by someone else.

How do I claim warranty?

Bring the device back with your receipt — or just your phone number, we look it up. If it's a warranty fault we re-fit a new part free, no questions, and extend the warranty so you're not left short.

Pricing & Payment

What does a repair cost?

Our full price list is public on the Pricing page, or use the instant quote tool for a real per-model price in 60 seconds. If your device or repair isn't listed, give us a call on 03 9467 9694 — we likely still do it and we'll quote on the spot. No "from $X" tricks at the counter — the online price is the price.

Do I pay a deposit upfront?

No — payment is on completion of the repair, never upfront. Two exceptions:

  • Water damage — flat $65 diagnostic fee (covers the ultrasonic clean — often the fix on its own).
  • Special-order parts — if we need to bring a part in specifically for you, we'll ask for a 50% deposit to cover it.
What if the actual cost is different from the quote?

We text you for approval before doing any additional work. If we open it up and find hidden damage that changes the price, you decide before we touch anything. No surprises at the counter.

How can I pay?

Tap-and-go (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, Google Pay, or cash. Payment on completion, in-store.

Your Data & Privacy

Will I lose my data during a repair?

No — none of our standard repairs require wiping the device. Your photos, messages and apps stay exactly as you left them. If a job ever does require a wipe (rare — usually only board-level recoveries or firmware flashes), we'll tell you before we start and back things up first wherever possible.

Should I back up my device before bringing it in?

Always a good idea — repairs go fine 99% of the time, but a backup costs you nothing and protects you against the 1%. iCloud or Google Drive backup over Wi-Fi takes a few minutes.

Do I need to give you my passcode?

Only for repairs where we need to test the result inside the OS — e.g. screen replacements need to verify touch and display; Face ID work needs to set up Face ID again. For most repairs we don't need it. We only ever access the device to confirm the fix worked, and the receipt notes when the passcode was provided.

What about Find My iPhone / activation lock?

For most repairs you don't need to turn it off — screen, battery, charging port and back glass repairs don't touch it. If we're doing something that needs it disabled (usually a data transfer, full reset, or OS reinstall) we'll let you know on the spot, and you can switch it off in 30 seconds from Settings.

What We Fix

Which brands and devices do you repair?

Phones (iPhone, Samsung, Google Pixel), tablets (iPad, Galaxy Tab), laptops (MacBook, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Microsoft Surface, Asus), Apple Watch and smartwatches (Garmin, Galaxy Watch), consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch), Mac and iMac. The instant quote tool covers the most common — if your device isn't there, call us, we likely still do it.

Do you fix older or less common models?

Almost certainly. We've been on the bench 13 years — we still get an iPhone 6 in some weeks, the odd Galaxy S8, the occasional ancient laptop. If it's electronic and you care about it, ask. We'll be honest if it's not worth the cost.

Do you sell accessories?

Yes — cases, cables, chargers, screen protectors, MagSafe gear, hubs — in-store at DFO Uni Hill. If you want something specific, give us a call and we'll check stock or order it in.

Tricky Situations

My phone got wet — what do I do?

Power it off immediately, don't plug it in, don't try to dry it with rice or a hair dryer. Bring it in as soon as you can — every hour matters. We do a $65 ultrasonic clean and corrosion assessment (often the only fix needed), and if board-level repair is needed, we quote before doing anything. Treat any repaired phone as splash-resistant only — opening a device always breaks the factory water-resistance seal.

My device won't turn on at all — can you still help?

Yes — that's where most of our diagnoses start. Won't-power-on faults are usually one of: dead battery, blown charging port, water damage on the power circuit, or a logic-board fault. Free diagnosis (except water damage, $65 flat). We tell you exactly what's wrong before quoting.

Can you recover data from a phone or laptop that won't turn on?

Often yes. Phone data recovery from devices with screen, charging or board faults — we can usually pull photos, messages and contacts to a USB or cloud, even if the device itself can't be saved. Laptop SSD / HDD recovery too. Honest "from" pricing, free assessment, no recovery no fee.

Do you offer home call-out or pickup?

Yes — flat $89 call-out across the North-East suburbs (within 15km of DFO Uni Hill — small extra for further). Covers travel and the first hour at your home; parts and any extra labour are quoted on the spot before we touch anything. Saturdays and Sundays same price, after-hours weekday $129. Book before 11am for same-day.
