MICROSOFT SURFACE · EVERY MODEL · INSIDE & OUT

Yes, we fix Surface —
inside and out.

Screen, battery, Type Cover, charging port, kickstand, storage — even the board-level faults most shops send away. Surface used to have a name for being unrepairable. Not any more: from the Surface Pro 9 on they open up properly, and Microsoft now sells genuine replacement parts through its own self-repair program — which is what we fit. One bench, a straight answer before any work, same-day where the part’s in stock.

EVERY SURFACE REPAIR

If it’s a Surface, it’s on our bench.

Not just screens. From a Type Cover that’s stopped registering to a board that won’t boot, here’s the lot we fix — genuine Microsoft parts where they’re made, a proper assessment first, and a straight answer before we start. Not sure what’s wrong? Bring it in, we’ll work it out for free.

Screen & digitizer

Cracked glass, dead touch, or lines across the display. The Surface screen is a fused glass-and-LCD module — we swap the whole unit with heat and fresh adhesive, genuine where it’s made.

Battery replacement

Dies by lunchtime, or swelling the screen off. On recent Surfaces the battery is screwed in, not glued — a proper fresh cell.

Battery repairs

Type Cover & keyboard

Detachable Type Covers that won’t register, sticky or dead keys, or the built-in keyboard on a Surface Laptop. Reseated, repaired or replaced.

Trackpad

Clicks that don’t land, a cursor that jumps, or a pad worn smooth. We fix the trackpad on Type Covers and Surface Laptops alike.

Charging port

Charges at an angle, keeps dropping out, or nothing at all. Surface Connect or USB-C — port cleaned or replaced, matched to your model.

Speakers & audio

No sound, crackle, or one side gone quiet. Speakers cleaned or replaced and tested properly before it goes back.

Kickstand & hinge

A kickstand that won’t hold its angle, a loose hinge, or a bent leg after a knock. Replaced so it sits where you put it.

SSD & storage

Recent Surfaces take a removable rSSD — so we can replace a failed drive or upgrade the storage, without touching the rest.

Ports

USB-C, USB-A, headphone or Surface Connect not doing their job. We test each one and repair or replace whatever’s failed.

Won’t power on / board-level

Dead, no charge, or gone after a knock. Often one component on the board, not a write-off — more below.

Liquid / water damage

A spill or a soaking. Power it off, don’t charge it — flat $65 assessment first.

Water damage

Windows & software

Stuck on the logo, won’t update, boot-looping or bricked after a Windows update. We find the cause before quoting a fix.

More than a Surface in the house? We fix every other laptop too, and everything else across phones, tablets and consoles.

GENUINE PARTS · THE SURFACE TURNAROUND

Genuine Microsoft parts, where it counts.

For years Surface was the device you couldn’t get parts for. That’s changed. Microsoft now runs an official self-repair program and sells genuine replacement parts for recent Surface devices — display modules, batteries, kickstands, removable SSDs, Surface Connect ports and speakers. For those models, that’s exactly what we fit: the real part, made for your Surface.

Genuine isn’t a slogan here — on recent Surfaces it’s simply what goes in. Where Microsoft doesn’t make a genuine part, we fit a quality aftermarket one and tell you before we start.

Older Surfaces — the Pro 4 to 7, older Go and Laptop — are gluier and don’t always have a genuine part made for them. We still take them on, fit a quality assembly where no genuine one exists, and say so up front. Get a quote

THE DIFFERENCE · BOARD-LEVEL REPAIR

We go to board level.

This is the bit that sends most shops running. When a Surface won’t turn on, won’t charge, or goes dead after a knock, the usual line is ‘it’s finished, buy a new one’. Often it isn’t — it’s one component on the board that’s given up.

A failed charge IC, a dropped power rail, a shorted line after a fall — we diagnose down to that part and replace it under the microscope. No power, no charge, dead after a drop: often fixable at the component, without swapping the whole board. And your data stays on the device.

A dead-looking Surface is usually one failed chip, not a write-off. And your files never leave the machine.

Board-level work isn’t a same-day job — figure 1 to 3 days — and it’s no-fix-no-fee. If we can’t save it, you don’t pay for the attempt. Start a quote

TYPE COVER · KEYBOARD & TRACKPAD

Type Cover, keyboard & trackpad.

The keyboard is half of what makes a Surface a Surface, and it’s the bit that takes the daily hammering. Detachable Type Covers that have stopped registering, keys gone sticky or dead, a trackpad worn smooth or no longer clicking — we sort all of it, on both the clip-on covers and the built-in keyboard and trackpad of a Surface Laptop.

A Type Cover that won’t connect is often the pin connector or the cover itself rather than the Surface — we test which before quoting, so you’re not paying to replace the wrong thing. Bring the cover in with the device so we can check them as a pair.

Most keyboard and trackpad jobs are quick once the part’s in — and Type Cover parts are sometimes order-in, so 1 to 3 days is common. Get a quote

THE SCREEN · FUSED & GLUED, DONE RIGHT

The glued screen, done right.

Here’s the honest bit about a Surface screen. It isn’t a pane of glass you can pop off — the glass and LCD are fused into one module, and that module is glued to the chassis. So a cracked Surface screen is a whole-module job, done with heat and patience, not a five-minute glass swap. We do it the way Microsoft’s own repair guides do.

  • The glass and LCD are a single fused module — we replace the whole unit, not just the outer glass
  • We lift the old module with controlled heat and fit the new one on fresh adhesive — sealed properly, not taped back down
  • Newer Surfaces (Pro 9 on) come apart cleanly; the older glued-tight screens take more heat and patience — we do those confidently too, not a job we shy away from

SURFACE QUESTIONS

Straight answers.

Do you use genuine Microsoft parts?

Genuine where it’s made, and we’re straight about it. Microsoft now runs an official self-repair program and sells genuine replacement parts for recent Surface devices — display modules, batteries, kickstands, removable SSDs, Surface Connect ports and speakers — and that’s what we fit. On older Surfaces, or the odd model Microsoft doesn’t make a genuine part for, we fit a quality aftermarket assembly and tell you which it is before we start, never after.

Aren’t Surfaces basically unrepairable?

That was fair a few years ago — the old ones were glued shut and awkward. It’s changed. From the Surface Pro 9 on they’re genuinely repairable; iFixit called the Pro 9 the most repairable Surface Pro they’d seen. Recent Surface Laptop and Surface Go models too. The SSD lifts out, the battery is held by screws not glue, and the display module, kickstand, Surface Connect port, speakers and motherboard are all replaceable. Older Surfaces are gluier and fiddlier, but we still take them on.

Can you replace a cracked Surface screen?

Yes. The Surface screen is a fused unit — the glass and LCD are bonded together and the whole thing is glued to the chassis, so it’s replaced as a complete module rather than just the outer glass. We lift the old one with controlled heat, clean it up, and fit the new module on fresh adhesive — genuine where Microsoft makes one, a quality assembly where they don’t. Done properly and sealed, not bodged back down.

My Type Cover / keyboard stopped working — can you fix it?

Almost always. Detachable Type Covers that have stopped registering are often the pin connector or the cover itself rather than the Surface — we test which and sort it. Sticky or dead keys, a worn trackpad, or the built-in keyboard and trackpad on a Surface Laptop: reseated, repaired or replaced. Bring the cover in with the Surface so we can test them together.

What warranty do I get?

Every repair carries a minimum 90-day warranty on the part and our workmanship — longer on plenty of jobs. If something we fitted plays up in that window, bring it back and we’ll sort it. It’s all no-fix-no-fee too: if we can’t fix it, you don’t pay for the attempt.

Which Surface models do you cover?

The lot — Surface Pro (the 2-in-1 tablets), Surface Laptop, Surface Go, and the Surface Book and older Surface tablets. Newer models (Pro 9 on, recent Laptop and Go) are the easy ones with genuine parts; older ones are gluier but we still take them on. Not sure which you’ve got? Tell us and we’ll work it out.
